I’d heard from people that the WordPress upgrade process was ‘a pain’, so I resisted doing it for as long as I could, even though I knew I was leaving this site vulnerable to whatever exploits had already been identified. Last week I knew I had to bite the bullet and upgrade, so I set aside plenty of time and began the long arduous process, which I’ll outline for you here.
Yes, it really was that simple. In the space of 20 minutes I upgraded 4 blogs, each of which had started with a different version of WordPress, and each of which upgraded with no problems. So if you’re looking to upgrade your WordPress installation to the latest version (currently 2.5.1), make sure to do it with this plugin (which is actually recommended by WordPress as the way to go).

One question I’m asked at conferences is whether or not I use Twitter. I don’t. I’m quite happy using the Facebook status setting if I have something to say in 140 characters or less, and I don’t want to have another time-suck that pulls me away from doing things that need to be done.
Matt McGee and Jeff Quipp both used to be of the same opinion… now they’ve turned to the dark side and begun tweeting. On the plus side, they’ve turned it into a little competition, with money being donated to the charity of the winner by the one who gets to 500 followers last.
As for me, I’ll still resist the bright lights of Twitter, and follow the advice of the late Frankie Howerd…

Yes, I know, I seem to put out more and more of these “it’s been a while since I posted” posts, so here we go again.
If you are a Facebook friend, and look at my status, you’ll already know that I managed to tear my calf muscle last week, and am currently on crutches, which is going to work really well for my trip to Miami this week – although if you’re going to be at the WOMMU conference, I should be easy to spot, so come over and say “Hi, can I carry your bag for you”
I’ll actually be covering that conference for Search Marketing Gurus, so pop over there and you can find out what’s going on in the Sunshine State.
As usual, I’ve been doing my regular blogging for EndlessPlain, and unlike here, have posts ready to go through the end of May, so head over there and check out what I’m talking about, every Monday at 9am est.
